Jesus made an astonishing declaration to His disciples — ordinary fishermen, tax collectors, and common people: "You are the light of the world." Not "you will be" or "you could be." You are.
Light has one job: to shine. It does not debate whether the darkness deserves it. It does not wonder if the room is worthy. It simply shines, and darkness — by the very nature of light — cannot remain.
In the same way, the Gospel we carry is not a private treasure to be kept to ourselves. It is meant to illuminate every corner of the world we inhabit — our homes, our workplaces, our neighbourhoods, our nation.
For those of us in India, we live in a land of astonishing spiritual hunger. Millions are searching for truth, for peace, for the living God. The light of Christ — the true light that gives light to everyone (John 1:9) — is the answer to the deepest questions of the human heart.
Don't hide your lamp. Don't let fear or shame or the opinions of others extinguish what God has placed in you. Your testimony, your love, your words, your life — they are light. Shine.
Today's Prayer
Lord, make me a light in my generation. Help me to live and speak in such a way that people around me see Your glory and are drawn to You. Let my life be a lamp that points to Jesus. Amen.
